the surcharge is because you haven’t paid into it previously, like everyone who has lived in the UK before you.

in general this is just amortizing a $100k fee over 5 years and across 4 people to make it seem less ridiculous. a UK visa for a single person is like 10k for 5 years

I think this has been more alarming for the UMich’s credibility —Democrats say inflation will be 10% and Republicans say 1% over the next year.

Most other surveys show short term tariff impact but anchored long run.

Can anyone from #EconSky explain why Indian foreign exchange reserves (dollar denominated) have moved so closely with the inverted dollar index? Does this suggest most of their foreign reserves are not actually dollar denominated?

at least in recent years -- 2024 was 384 (from -21 in Mar.) and 2023 was 368 (from -29 in Mar.)
