We are telling our guests about the provenance of our ornaments while decorating the tree they helped us cut and making us aperol spritzes. I didn’t have this down as a victory condition but it sure feels like an achievement.

Soup slaps so hard this time of year.

Dollop of sour cream, drizzle of brown butter, garnish with roasted pumpkin seeds… I like it with some chipotle, maple syrup, some sumac berries would be rad, too. Or you could go for a curry flavor with turmeric and ginger.

There’s no recipe. Smoke a pumpkin or bake one and add liquid smoke. Purée the ever loving shit out of it with butter, stock of your choosing, and spices. Heat low and when hot stir in cream.
