Business foot traffic is up in New York's congestion pricing zone. "It tells me that this city depends a lot more on transit than on drivers,”

Whenever a human-friendly change happens in any city - it's almost always good for biz.

At post-ride breakkie today one of the group, who works with the SES, reveals about 4 cars a week are driven into houses! Only the ones resulting in injury/death make the media.
Today’s Hun has this: colour me unsurprised.

If you said this in the other place but didn’t copy it over, does “we told you so” still count?

Excellent piece by @simonahac.bsky.social “Under the Coalition’s scenario, large industrial load collapses in 2030, signalling the closure of smelters and presumably datacentres – goodbye AI! By 2050 industrial demand is down by 62%.”

If your city isn’t taking concrete steps to make it less convenient to drive places, then your city leaders aren’t serious about climate action.

40% of the mass of everything transported by a ship in 2023 was a fossil fuel.

That stat paired with this new study shines a pretty harsh spotlight on how obscenely bad-faith the right-wing concern trolling around offshore wind + whales is

UW study finds leading cause of whale deaths
New research shows that the top threat to whales around the globe has changed. But it wouldn't take much to reduce the risk, researchers say.

Why 20 is plenty in built up areas.

Over half of London’s roads are now 20mph and the evidence shows it’s saving lives.

There are 6 (!) auctions in our neighbouring 3 streets scheduled for next weekend. Haven’t seen a genuine interested party at any of the opens so far. And at the massively inflated estimates, why would you?

Just watched a mum on a tern almost get left hooked by a driver on our main road with no bike lanes. As much as I hate what vehicular cycling has meant for road safety in Aus, sometimes you do need to just take the lane (or take the footpath).
