Developing Star Gambit (stargamb.it) and soon to be building on atproto.
What an excellent (though scary) analogy. Erin's analysis is spot on: so far we've only felt the first tremors from our collective failure to build a shared reality.

Let's build a firmer foundation.
Happy holidays, Bluesky! I got you a megathrust earthquake, soil liquefaction, spine-tingling papers about the way our networks confound knowledge, and a PDF in a pear tree. It's my wrap on a year of trying to make sense of how we make sense of what's happening to us.

Landslide; a ghost story
On March 27, 1964, a converted liberty ship named the SS Chena brought a shipment of supplies to the port of Valdez, Alaska. Valdez, which I need you to know is pronounced “valDEEZ,” sits at the end o...

Most discussions about “misinformation” treat the problem as if people simply don’t have good enough critical-thinking skills. It sounds intuitive, but it’s not entirely accurate. The problem isn’t just individual ignorance, it’s the structure of the information environment people are placed into.

Listening to the Silksong OST, damn @christopherlarkin.bsky.social is good. Like Hollow Knight before it, I am head over heels for Silksong's environments/vibes and the soundtrack is a HUGE part of that.

Shoutout @dame.is, really wholesome to give some feedback and see improvements almost immediately. You set a high bar for the rest of us devs!

with all of the new visitors to anisota over the past 24 hours, i decided to invest some time today in making the tutorial better — i've added additional explainers to the tutorial and added a nice glowing highlight to bring attention to the relevant buttons/content the user should look at

Just saw a license plate, "I SEL M". WILD way to advertise if so 🤣

Loving @stechlab-labels.bsky.social. The 'posted more than 50 times yesterday' label is remarkably well correlated with content I want off my feed. Anyone know of a good way to filter that with exceptions for news organizations and stuff?

Trump pardoned Changpeng Zhao. Every month that his company, #binance, doesn't redeem the trump-coins it got from the #UAE makes millions for the Trump family. Why might Sheikh Tahnoon choose to park his $2B in Trump's bank account?
This is #corruption, plain and simple.

huge shoutout to Bailey for taking this one on

Finally on my own PDS! Thanks @baileytownsend.dev for pdsmoover.com, made it very to transfer over. Let's go #atproto!

buuut... I still need to give @bsky.app my password? I'd really rather that be OAuth. Anyone have a better frontend for me to try?

#atproto ppl... are we really gonna let #discord outdo us like that?

#Silksong is too good, @teamcherry.bsky.social has outdone themselves. 10/10. EXCEPT FOR THAT ONE NASTY SURPRISE HOW DARE YOU I LITERALLY SCREAMED

Microblogging is mid. The meta is to post incessantly in the hopes that some hot take goes viral. These dynamics promote absolutist takes and echo chambers at the expense of nuance and understanding.
The #atproto is FAR more interesting than #bluesky.

This exactly.

My philosophy as a game designer: if it annoys me as a player, it doesn't belong in my game.

If your choice is between profits and UX, choose UX every time.

Ideally money comes later as appreciative players help spread your game. If not, well, at least what you made doesn't suck.
The honest reason I don't have microtransactions/season pass/ads/100 DLCs/etc in Balatro isn't just about the ethics of those practices but because when I play other games that have those things it makes me want to put my computer in the dishwasher and set it to pots & pans
