You can take so many more shots on cheap young players from lower quality leagues for the same amount of money as one from a T5 league, and only one needs to be a hit for you to make the money back from all those shots. And the "misses" can be loaned/resold without a huge loss, or a little profit.
Poppy time is coming around again and with each passing year it eats itself more and more and the original premise gets even more lost. We're not remembering the war and vowing never to repeat it, we're putting it on a pedestal and glorifying it while we consistently side with an ongoing genocide.

I think unless Labour have a massive rethink of their approach and policies, there's a non zero chance they effectively die within 10 years. They'll hang about because they have legacy, but they could become the second or third choice left leaning party if they keep their current trajectory.

Extremely satisfying and rewarding to pick out Brajan Gruda as a promising young attacker, then watch Brighton do the same, and then watch him make a huge impact once subbed on against one of best teams in the world. He's definitely good enough to start imo, fantastic stuff.

Sheffield Wednesday are running a back line and midfield with an average age under 20. I wonder if any of them will reach the top level and we'd only have found them because the club's owner ran it into the ground and half the playing staff had to leave.

15m profit on Renato Veiga now too.

For all the mockery they got for signing tons of players, it keeps paying off.
If Chelsea keep recouping the fees they paid for players in that chaotic spending spree, then it shows the strategy kind of worked out. Take lots of shots on young talent, spend a couple seasons figuring out which ones are hits, then break-even(ish) on the misses.

What's that, Spurs dropped too deep too early, left huge open spaces around the box and then conceded? Frankly I am shocked.

This #PSGTOT game is incredibly reminiscent of so many Brentford games I watched in the 21/22 & 22/23 seasons.

A 352 with a pair of strikers that work really well together to hold the ball up and generate counters.

A 352 that drops too deep and leaves spaces in the box for teams to get shots away.

Kudus is the near perfect Thomas Frank forward. Versatile wide player who is comfortable centrally, he can hold the ball up incredibly well and has the technical ability to turn on it and bring others into play. Equally happy in either system, RW in a 433/4231 or ST in a 352.

I will forever be convinced that it's almost never worth spending over 50m on a player (unless they really are the best in the position like a Bellingham or Wirtz). That 50m can always be better spent on five young 10m players that can then be loaned as they develop, then integrated or resold.

Man Utd's spending continues to blow my mind, how can you spend a collective €225m on 3 first team players? It's so inefficient. The €4m spent on Diego León is a wildly better use of money, he's not likely to be an immediate first team quality player, but once he improves he still has resale value.

Mikel Arteta is the Jake Humphrey of football managers

Watching #Spurs fans slowly realise that Thomas Frank's football quite quickly becomes very stodgy when you can't progress the ball, there's a clear preference for being solid so creativity takes a definite back seat. Now they want to sign Palhinha (ball-winning midfielder) to be even more solid.

Hampton should win POTT. Not just for shoot out dominance but for huge saves vs Sweden and Italy especially when England looked buried

Chloe Kelly. Was it ever going to be anyone else?

Please let's not sit in our box and try to fire it long with clearances for the whole of extra time.

Convinced Kelly is a better, more exciting winger than James and I don't understand what she has to do to start a game. It's so predictable that we end up turning to these players when the initial plan doesn't work.

Our most promising moments are coming from pushing up and winning the ball, but we keep dropping deep and letting them build up. It only takes one messup to concede even if you're a good box defending team.

It really is amazing that the generation after mine will pretty much exclusively know England as a really good footballing nation. The men's seniors are making SFs and finals, and the youth teams and women's seniors have won tournaments. The vibes have fully shifted everywhere and it's beautiful.
