Aventurine seemed to be the only person left in the room who had yet to show signs of even breaking a sweat. Though he had donned what the doctor referred to as his "gambler's uniform" — a long, sweeping black tailcoat with a fur-lined collar, decorated in eye-catching golds and greens, over a sharp teal and white ensemble — which she could only assume was an indication that he meant to wrap up the deal today at all costs. Clearly he was serious about his previous bet of "four days tops." Confidence was all she could see now, watching him work from the inside. Confidence, where before she had dismissed him as arrogant. Confident and resourceful and vibrantly bold. Haunted, yet determined and insightful. Childish and insecure at times, yes, but also undeniably clever.

Seotov had once been a lush world of dense forests and humid jungles, far back in its history. Now it was dominated by sprawling urban landscapes dotted with the occasional occurrences of nature tightly controlled by technology and engineering. A true testament to their attemps at integration with the IPC's set standards of civilization. The city of Cheress, current capitol of the Seotov Sovereignty, was a shining example — large and expansive, spreading out several miles in all directions from its epicenter, at which stood a single, spiraling cliff draped in an adornment of well-manicured forest that was closer to a garden than anything else. The buildings themselves were surprisingly low, not a one reaching higher than five floors, and while all were clearly made from newer building materials, many were crumbling. Whole districts in some places, pitted and marked with the destruction from local skirmishes where the populace had opted to simply move elsewhere rather than rebuild.

"I would ask you to pass along our regards to your, ah… host?" he said as she escorted him back to the front door, "but something tells me you intend to deny I was ever here." An odd hitch in the way he worded that made her pause. "As far as he's concerned, you were never here," she corrected, folding her arms across her chest, brows furrowed in bewilderment. At that, he actually gave a quiet laugh. "There may not be any surveillance in the apartment itself," he explained, "but there are cameras just outside the front door, as well as in the elevator. Cameras that I'm sure he would be capable of accessing." Alicia gave a small huff of frustration, feeling her face flush in embarrassment as her gaze dropped. Of course the rest of the building still had security. "I don't foresee him feeling the need to check," she muttered reluctantly. "He trusts me." "Well, if it does come up, then," he said softly, "please pass along the apologies of my companions as well."

4. I do save cut scenes. Or I would if any of them actually stayed cut LMAO. I do have a couple lines of dialogue, actually, that got cut from the Big Argument in TGR chapter 7, but I tucked them away in case I found somewhere else to put them. But in case that never happens, here they are!

As soon as he was close enough, Aventurine slipped a hand around his waist and pulled him closer — clinging, demanding, seeking out the reassurance of physical contact after an extended period of separation. The black gloves were notably missing, as was the peacock's normal business attire, dressed instead in a comfortable, oversized shirt and sweatpants, an ensemble he hadn't worn since this strange arrangement with their mercenary guest had begun. His brand was still covered, though this time only with a simple bandage, and his eyes were still the wrong color. But he looked remarkably more relaxed than he had in weeks. "Somebody was complaining about my spending habits," he explained, his natural Sigonian accent lilting melodically around the words. "That is unfortunately fair," Veritas murmured, wrapping an arm around his partner's shoulders. "Your spending habits are atrocious." Alicia waved a hand pointedly in what could only be described as an "I-told-you-so" gesture. Aventurine only pouted up at him in mock betrayal, but conspicuously did not loosen his grip. "Ever since I got back," she huffed, exasperation bleeding through her tone, "it has been surprise dinner excursions and luxury gifts. It is ridiculous." "At least one of those dinners was an actual business meeting," Aventurine insisted. "Exactly one. The rest were unnecessary. And I do not require a wardrobe that rivals the size of yours." With a look of pure innocence, he pressed his head into Veritas' chest like a preening cat. "She doesn't appreciate my gifts like you do." "I don't appreciate your extravagant gifts, either, if you recall," Veritas corrected firmly, extricating himself from the lithe grip so he could make his way to the kitchen. "Wh— Hey, wait a minute. Toktari, that's not fair, you can't take her side!"

My personal obsession. Imagine a wax melt that makes your entire living space smell like spiced tea and vanilla and subtle florals. Saffron and tobacco and coconut... It makes me insane.

I got them from this creator who makes a whole bunch of custom scented wax melts and it is my favorite by far.

Glancing up, she found the doctor’s stone facade had vanished, and a complicated expression was fixed in his demeanor. Before she could respond to his statement, he motioned toward the chunk of glass. “The specific alloy used in the filings that give the glass its particularly brilliant aventurescence can only be mined on a single known planet,” he stated cryptically. “The compound is known there as ‘starglass’ or, more colloquially, goldstone. In the wider cosmos, however, it has been given the designation ‘Egyhazo aventurine.’”

His eyes did not meet hers, staring aimlessly instead at one of the far bookshelves. "When we first met," he began after a moment. "It was strikingly similar to last night in many ways.
