Names and eyes. Both such precious, individual signals of one's identity. Neither can be realistically hidden forever. And Veritas is tired of upholding this ridiculous game.

Alicia herself had not used her Avgin name in the wider cosmos ever, and there were some even in the Enclave that did not have permission to speak it. So how… How had Aventurine — Tavarus — known what it was? She couldn’t really fault him for saying it aloud in the doctor’s presence. He was delirious and bleeding out, and likely was not even aware he had said it. All the more suspect, as it likely meant that it was not something he had learned after their first meeting, but rather something he had already known. Something buried deep in his memory. Which meant that he recognized her. Had likely recognized her from the moment they met. And had, as with everything else, not said anything.
