I'm watching the Ladies Euro Tour event, the PIF Saudi Ladies International in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. There copious numbers of highly rated LPGA and other tour women golfers present, but the course is curiosly deserted (see what I did there?). There are no spectators.

This datum would seem to add weight to the idea that Mccarty was acting in lieu of pressure from the CCP. Or at least anyone very high up.
I mean, given the amount of paperwork I had to fill out for that visa, the Chinese government knew damn well I was there and had pre-vetted me as slightly less threatening than a wet noodle. It’s not like they freak out at the word “Tibet.” They have tourists there! It’s a thing!

I am increasingly of the theory that they screwed up the math big time, failed to correct it, put the finalists out in a rush, realized that they’d dropped a couple people on accident, and hastily disqualified them so as not to admit fault.
