If the ICE misconduct is real then issue should be processed through legal system (e.g. the boy at Target).

I don't condone ICE using excessive violence. And I don't understand why ICE was in Minneapolis in the first place, in apparent response to the Somali Daycare Fraud. That investigation should've been the FBI's responsibility.
OTOH, the street protests that resulted in two deaths were uncalled for.

You're right - the original unlawful entry is a misdemeanor, its the unlawful reentry that is a felony. Apologies for that.
So, whats the solution? Let illegals just stay 'as is' and pretend they are not there? Will that deter other migrants from illegally crossing the border, or encourage them?

PS. I largely agree that we should let people in, aka “Ellis Island-style” - a few thousand people come in, get checked, get new names/passports, and off they go. No social services, no $5k visa cards, no hotels. Just go make the best of it in your new country.

You make a difference between “criminals” and “those who are here illegally”. It’s the same people - crossing the border illegally is a federal felony.

ICE is there to catch illegal immigrants. If you don’t want ICE doing its job, who should be doing it instead? Local or State police? They aren’t doing shit about it.

Why do you always call them “our neighbors” and never what they really are - an illegal immigrants? An illegal border crossing makes one a criminal by definition.
