Lingering uncertainty of where you fit in and what role you play, recursively looping back to basal instincts centered around the self and divorced from society, cause a deep depression due to a feeling of complete powerlessness and cynicism. It doesn't feel good, but it's hard to escape it.

To fail to recognize this role is to transmogrify into a new lifeform, a newer creature which is often weaker and destroyed. A mind prairie, populated by packs of wild culture animals hunting and foraging to survive, metastasizing into physical human actions in memesis.
