Ferndale showed up!

I know now that my predisposition to shoot for sequential digits when I pump gas or program the microwave to reheat my coffee is simply the result of a sequence of genes in my DNA, passed on by a father who paid acute – don’t say “obsessive” – attention to the numbers in his life.
HAPPY FATHERS DAY

It wasn’t until a few years after his death that we realized that it was simply a master collector’s vision at work. Lined up at the top of the wall in his basement office at the house in Beulah was this collection from 1966-85 – two decades in the making.

Dad would take note of the number just dealt to the current customer and count heads in order to drop back a few positions in line to secure a plate that was “easier to remember.”

It was an eye-rolling moment as far as my siblings and I were concerned at the time.
