I decided to make it a mental math problem because it looked pretty easy.
48 ÷ 12 is 4 so 480 ÷ 12 = 40
20 ÷ 12 = 5÷3 = 1.6͞
Add them and round
41.67

I guess I've never seen it explained with fractions like that that i can remember, but maybe I did and only remember that it is ÷10 for each digit.

Lol, I guess that joke bombed. I probably should have put "I'm asking for friends". Maybe the question be a less serious one. Or maybe the idea is too hard to do with out vocal inflection.

The only drawback is cash is immediate. You use it is gone. If you credit and you carry a balance it might end up costing more.
My family does use a credit card, but I don't drive and have no idea what the gas price is.
