Online poker player for 3 years, recently switched to live. Reporting back on the weird and wonderful experiences of live poker through the eyes of a noob.
I'm beginning to spend too much of my downtime on social media again, watching unhappy people argue about absolutely everything under the sun.

Is streaming an online cash challenge still a thing? Might be fun to start at 2nl with bankroll goals for moving through the stakes.

Cash players:

Barely engaging in conversation, earphones, Ipads, hoods up. Creating the least inviting environment possible.

Also cash players:

"the games are getting so bad now, just regs trading blows"

Let's say it all together now people.

"I won't open GTOWizard or other solve software during a playing session"

It really isn't that fucking hard. Stop saying "I was just looking up a spot, or coaching a friend"

Study and review after playing sessions, don't be a cheat.

Regarding live cash, what's your thoughts about regulars that sit, then leave as soon as they have won any reasonable amount?

So i mean whether it takes them half hour or 5 hours, as soon as they're up a bit, they fuck off.

Today I ran a bluff in a 2k pot at 1/2/(5)

I lost, cos bluffing in big spots is stupid when population overcalls.

This in turn makes me stupid.

Be less like me, and more like a nit vs these god damn stations.

Live poker: Where the majority of players are perfectly nice and friendly... until they get stacked, then they're a dick.

Look like I'm taking the chip lead into my very first live day 2 today.

Let's go!

There is so much pressure to pay bubbles and chop the last 3/4 places in low stakes live poker tournaments.

AITA for never wanting to deal?

People call too much and bluff too little.

Overfold, underbluff, and bet big with your value.

Stating the obvious, but I feel like every now and then, we all need reminding.

After Nacho Barbero outed himself using GTO wizard while playing recently, now a 2nd ACR pro, Ebony Kenney has done the same.

I'm not really interested in these shitty excuses anymore. They're fucking cheats.

Do you know how easy it is to not have GTOW open while you're playing. It's really easy.

Interesting FT spot posted in the River the Nuts Discord.

You calling this? What's the bottom you call with?

Live poker... where half the people at the table say what they would have had after the hand is finished with what they folded pre flop.

Every. single. hand

Live tourney, final 11, stone bubble. Final 2 tables hand for hand.

Folds to us in SB, we have 25 bigs, medium stack. BB has 10 bigs. There are at least 2 players left shorter than him.

No history on BB but read on population is they overfold to jams.

Can we jam any 2 here?

Loving live. Guy limps K4o from UTG in MTT with about 40 bigs behind. Numerous callers. Makes it to river on KKxxx board. Gets stacked by someone with a better King.

Says "nothing I can do there really with trips" and everyone agrees.

Like most football fans, I've always loved the idea of being a manager. In recent years, this desire has grown.

I am now officially manager of a Sunday league side and I'm buzzing to get stuck in to it.

Continuing with my dive into live.

Playing 1/2 (straddle 5) last night, cash games were juicy again, got X jammed on on turn while holding KK (overpair to the board) and called off to see a set. Probably a fold but it's been wild.

Hit my 2 outer on the river for a £1400 pot 🫣

Is it just me or has it always struck anyone else a bit odd when we talk about "studying exploits"

That's always seemed like the one aspect of poker that should come naturally to us all right?

Why do we need to be told that if someone over or under does something, we need to adjust?

I've never really been one for new years resolutions but from the turn of the year I've made 4 big changes.

1. Playing much more poker with my new schedule.
2. Cut out potato, rice, pasta and bread from my diet.
3. I'm intermittent fasting.
4. I've quit smoking.

It's hard tbh

2nd ever live tourney, first ever cash. In no way a big one or anything but it represents a milestone in my time as a poker player.
January 3, 2025 at 3:02 AM
Make or break year on the poker front for me. Big changes to what and when I play. Ditching the daytime sessions, having a big push on live, mixing cash and tourneys.

In addition to this I'm significantly changing my eating and sleeping habits in an effort to improve my health.
January 1, 2025 at 11:58 AM
This is messed up. You make this ruling before or at the beginning of the tournament. You can't do it half way through. Not sure how they're going to explain their way out of this one.

WSOP looking completely incompetent right now.
