New mums may find they have less time to prepare food, but it’s important that they get the energy and nutrients that they need, even if they end up having more frequent, smaller snacks rather than main meals.
Updates reflect the changing, challenging context in which new mums are trying to eat well and changes to services and support like the Healthy Start scheme. Edits have also been made to advice around plant milks and supplements, in line with latest SACN recommendations and NICE guidelines.

Conflicts of interest like this are violations of the International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes. Sponsorships can lead attendees to believe that the conference, journals and the professionals involved, endorse certain products or brands.

The conference is organised by Mark Allen Group – which also takes money for advertising of formula milk in journals it publishes, including the British Journal of Midwifery and Journal of Family and Child Health.

The Food Standards Agency states that some imported products, particularly from the US, may contain unauthorised additives or lack proper allergen labelling and urge importers of products to ensure they meet UK food safety standards: www.food.gov.uk/business.../...
