#WIP Wednesday! Northern Parulas are so cute with their white eye crescents.

I often wonder if I'm really a botanical artist rather than a bird artist 😅 But I really like how the oak leaves and catkins are turning out!

It's always a good day to celebrate a bristleworm. Our community suspects that this one is the species Glycera fallax.

There's something fishy about the teeth of the earliest vertebrates in the fossil record. An absolute rollercoaster of an episode with Dr Yara Haridy.

The masked finfoot Heliopais personatas, or duckbird, is a highly endangered bird endemic to riverine environments across South-East Asia. Its population has declined to around 108-304 mature individuals, and is predicted to fall further without intervention

The Imperial woodpecker Campephilus imperialis would be the worlds largest species of woodpecker, however no sightings have been confirmed since 1956 and is assumed extinct. It was endemic to Mexico, however due to habitat fragmentation there is not enough old growth forest to sustain a population.

The Red Kite was almost extinct in the UK, however heroic efforts by conservationists spanning nearly a century have brought this stunning bird back to our skies!
