Thanks to a reader for the heads up that Route 13 is blocked southbound and traffic is backed up northbound due to a fallen tree near the intersection of Freeville Road and Lee Road with Route 13. Expect delays in the area.

The Ithaca Police Department and LETR Special Olympics New York are hosting a “Law & Order” dine-in or takeout fundraiser on Wednesday at Ithaca’s Texas Roadhouse, with a portion of sales going to the non-profit.

This week, we’re on Ithaca’s east hill checking out El Chamo Bar & Grill, a new Venezuelan restaurant on Stewart Avenue. Open since summer, El Chamo serves lunch and dinner and is open for late-night takeout, as well.

If you have a clear view of the north sky, tonight is our best chance in a while for a dramatic Aurora show. It’s visible to the naked eye as a faint glow, but you’ll see more clearly through a digital or phone camera preview. Hold still for a long exposure (3-10 seconds) for best results.

The Locke Fair features fireworks Friday and a parade Saturday, and we have a packed weekend of music, movies, and other events starting with Goonies at CHFD and Ampersand at Myers Park tonight, and the annual SOMAT Punk Rock Benefit for the Ithaca Free Clinic at Hopshire.
