Too many books, not enough time!

Reading and relaxing in Liverpool, Tokyo or elsewhere.

Didn't expect this to be the way my evening ended when I woke up this morning but I'll take it!

Set myself a sort of target to read every day in September no matter how busy it got and I made it! (When the line gets very close to 0 that day was just 5 pages 😅)
Great encouragement to put the screens down, thank you @thestorygraph.com

Finished reading The Debacle by Émile Zola as the storm races through the trees outside. My first Zola! Not my last! Got such a severe book hangover now, whatever am I going to read next?

Getting lightly sozzled standing on your own in a park at night, not classy at all, UNLESS it's matsuri season in Japan and you're watching the bon odori dancing

Inspiration from le musée de l'Ordre de la Libération, which you should absolutely visit, especially if you get the chance to go over Bastille Day weekend, which you should also absolutely do. Vive la Résistance!

Devastated by yesterday's news of the deaths of Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva.
Went for a walk to the ground. The flags were at half mast and the tributes were beautiful. Was holding it together until I saw someone had left their PlayStation controller.
RIP and YNWA ❤️

If you like looking over your reading stats with cool graphics, @thestorygraph.com is the place for you! (Miles miles better than GR and not Am*zon affiliated).
Also I have to get better at logging my pages every day, I always forget!

Last week was definitely one of those weeks but today I got lucky enough with deadlines to be able to sit in the shade and read Julian Maclaren-Ross's Of Love and Hunger from start to finish. Reminded me (a bit) of my own misspent youth on the south coast.
Let's hope this week is more peaceful ❤️

You might remember about a month ago we had an unfortunate peony-v-football confrontation that didn't end too well for the plant. So I decided to buy some for my mum and they are as joyous as I'd hoped.
