Tristram Shandy. It’s the only book I actually gave up on, but the guilt forced me back, years later, to actually finish.

It may be a Canadian thing. I think it’s pretty well remembered by Gen X canucks like me, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s one of the many Canadian cultural products that’s less known in the USA.
