Advocating "small-statism" in response to social heterogeneity strikes me as pretty fuckin reactionary idk. This is what happens when your critique of capital is entirely spatial (eg what zero Marx does to a mf)

NYT called this guy "the Karl Marx of our time" lmao

This misapprehension of the class character of progressivism results in a nostalgia for a technocratic "socialism" grounded in "good statistics" and the scientific method. A thoroughly anti-political vision.

Liu wants to tell a story of degeneration, in which the once-heroic PMC has abandoned the proles in favor of idpol etc. Case in point, she bemoans the death of "liberal professionalism," which is apparently essential to building socialism.

Liu's critique of the PMC starts w/ the historically inaccurate contention that the middle class reformists of the Progressive Era sided w/ the socialists against capital. In reality, progressivism emerged as an attempt to manage class conflict and save capitalism from itself.

Very funny and extremely telling that wonks are treating the idea that politicians should follow through on their promises as some eccentric new ideology.
