Seems like almost all my Google Mail messages are going into spam at the moment, so I'm having to fish them out one by one... feels like I'm making lunch while standing in a wheelie bin.

Spinoff programme idea: Doctor Who Do You Think You Are, where a celebrity goes into the TARDIS to find out how appalling their ancestors were (Daleks?)

@feap.bsky.social I thoroughly enjoyed your piece about Ray Of Light on the Monocle daily .. I'm a huge fan of William Orbit so it was great to hear some other inspired songs 🎶🎵

To that end: please do create a Spotify playlist!

There remains something delightfully old fashioned about catching a train for leisure purposes.

This is very much what I'm doing now.

In other news, Retford is one of the strangest stations I've ever been to. It's got a bonus level (with a daft little train)

This is an absolute Godsend on a day like today. There's a lot wrong with the world of corporate cost-cutting, so it feels right to celebrate things being better. Thanks @lner.co.uk (and @greateranglia.bsky.social too)

Every time I think that Life on Mars by David Bowie couldn't be any more iconic, another layer of its breathtaking story is revealed..

“No one ever knew the number, so it never rang”: The intriguing mystery of the ringing phone captured at the end of David Bowie’s Life on Mars
The ringing phone that closes out Bowie’s Hunky Dory epic was captured by accident - and nobody quite knows who was on the other end

I'm still a little baffled about scammers on Words With Friends... it's a game that celebrates language - when a message comes through from someone who clearly hasn't a clue about syntax nor punctuation, surely it's a red flag?

Happy Sunday, lovely people.

There might be witches on the train Are they like doctors on a plane?I wonder if there’s one around Are they so easy to be found? They could be hiding in plain sightWith a gaze like grey twilight Dr…

I have a mac book for work and I'll be honest, it's taken a while to get used to it. But I'm getting there - here, for example, is a cool new feature I've discovered: if I move my mouse to the bottom right of the screen, it displays an elegant dark grey square.

Just a quick check: did one of you discover a mysterious switch last night and press it? If so, I think it might have turned off spring. Please can you turn it back on again thank you.

I've worked it out. Some people are more affected by the spring clock change than others; if, like me you were born in GMT, an hour was removed from the day in March, and then returned in October, so during that time (or at least the time it takes to adjust) it's the loss of an hour.

Can't believe I hadn't seen "Life on Mars" - it's really rather good.

It's all rather an exciting time for our choir - today is the release of our unofficial Comic Relief single, that I actually sang on (along with hundreds of others!)
If you get the chance, it would be great if you could listen to it on the usual services..

As I get older, I'm well aware that my mental capacity will decline, my physical ability will slow me down, and even my senses will start to fade; but I can't think of anything that will stop me being kind, so I think I'll focus on that.

What a tragedy... I've been to see more of Bill's radio productions than I can count because I knew they were going to be great. He was a mainstay of #Radio4 comedy. Sad times 😔
My dear BBC Radio Light Entertainment colleague Bill Dare has died in a car accident overseas. Bill was a true innovator, writing, producing and devising iconic programmes for BBC Radio and TV, including The Mary Whitehouse Experience, Dead Ringers and The Now Show. A huge loss to British comedy.
