While flipping through the 1993 edition of Best Editorial Cartoons of the Year, I stumbled upon this one which froze that flipping. A simple change to the label on the victim's shirt and it could just as easily run today. The caption's unfortunate message is just as true now as then.

The most extraordinary aspect of W. Balkan politics, esp in BiH & Kosovo, is that the only "ask" the citizens of these countries have ever had of the EU & U.S. is "insist on the same political & democratic standards here as you do at home". And the West has consistently said: no.
