We have been there before, where the Burmese military had sham elections in 2010, then followed by U Thein Sein fake reform. The international community lifted sanctions and supported this sham process, which has enabled the Burmese military to receive more revenues and built more military power.

Karen communities around the world reject Burma’s sham elections, call for international action. The Burmese military, after the sham election, will likely try to fake another reform process. EU, USA, UK, ASEAN and others must not support such sham processes as they did after the 2010 election.

ASEAN must unequivocally reject the Burmese military's sham election. ASEAN must not send observers or provide any form of technical or political support to the Burmese military. ASEAN must stand firmly in solidarity with the people of Burma.

Nearly a year since the UK imposed new sanctions on the #Myanmar junta.

Its time to act again! UK must sanction companies supplying aviation fuel to the illegal junta, which it uses for airstrikes, and junta-controlled banks, which it uses to purchase arms and receive revenue. #SanctionsNow
If you live in the UK, please write to your MP asking them to pressure the British government to speed up, and scale up, the British government response to the crisis in Burma action.burmacampaign.org.uk/write-your-mp

Same sham elections by the Burmese military. It is not about political reform, not for genuine peace, and not for the people. It is only to consolidate the brutal Burmese military and their elites.

As long as the Burmese military exists, there can never be genuine peace, and as long as there are some bamars who have a Bamar supremacy attitude (မဟာဗမာလူမျိုးကြီးရေးဝါဒ) who see themselves above other ethnic groups, it will be difficult to achieve genuine peace.

Governments need to urgently add SSPC to their sanctions lists. Ahead of the planned sham election, the Burmese military renamed itself "State Security and Peace Commission" (SSPC). Their previous name was "State Administration Council" (SAC).

Welcome news that Thailand has approved legal permission for refugees to work. This is a positive step to ease the pain and suffering of refugees. Thailand must ensure there is a protection system in place so that refugees are not being exploited.
