My poster on the life appearance of Megalosaurus, as presented at SVPCA 2024. A paper on this, and the history of M. reconstructions, is currently in the system and should (hopefully!) be published later this year. Posting this in the interim as a poss. useful #paleoart reference. #Sciart #dinosaur

Day 7 of #50daysofchondrichthyan is the Sphenodus macer, a shark-like neoselachian with uncertain phylogenetic placement. Its bauplan is similar to the cow shark but this species has a wide jaw and enlarged pectoral fins

Day 6 of #50daysofchondrichthyan is the serrated giant thresher shark; Alopias palatasi. Only known from isolated teeth but its tooth morphologies indicate that it might had similar lifestyle to the great white shark

Too late for day 4 of #50daysofchondrichthyan but here the artwork is finally done

Cladoselache might look like a shark, but in fact this critter is one of the oldest representative of Holocephalan (Chimaera and kins)

Result from the Shanwang formation #paleostream!
Here I show the place during autumn, a scenario we weren't able to show yet. It's an interesting time of year to cover, not only because of the novel colors in the flora but also the behaviors that many ungulates show during this time.

an attempted size reference for Quinkana fortirostrum from the Pleistocene of Australia
a lot of thought went into this one, trying to stick with the literature and known measurements, trying to pick a leg length that reflects the proposed terrestriality without overdoing it, etc...
