This is what film criticism is now.
An extreme anti-popular review to get the clicks. Regardless is it was the best movie musical to come out since West Side Story.

On stage, the origin stories for Dorothy’s travelling companions play out with “a breezy behind-the-scenes cleverness,” @justincchang.bsky.social writes. “On screen, and on full display, it’s close to an abomination.” Read his review of “Wicked: For Good.” https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/k_2Ng1
“Wicked: For Good” Is Very, Very Bad
In the second of two movies adapted from the Broadway musical, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo battle fascism, bigotry, and some fairly dreadful filmmaking.

The Accountant 2 was one of the best action movies I’ve seen in a long time and has one of the coolest things I’ve seen filmed.

So glad to see some craft in filmmaking.

As far as I’m concerned this franchise can be the Lethal Weapon of this era. Keep making more.

My latest: Generative AI is enabling a brute force attack against the algorithms that control reality. AI slop is taking over every algorithmically controlled social media platform and search platform, and the tech platforms are helping:

His Shakespeare movies are incredible. I remember them shaping my arts career because they are at such a level. Absolute brilliance. 🫡🪩
There was a time, not that long ago, when the name Kenneth Branagh was internationally synonymous with Shakespeare. He once directed and starred in movies that heralded a Golden Era of Shakespeare on film. But his “King Lear” at the Shed is forgettable.

In the nineteen-eighties and nineties, the actor, writer, and director ushered in a Golden Era of Shakespeare plays on film the likes of which we haven’t seen since.
