Time to go off and earn some more money to buy some real clothes. Not in this outfit, of course. Good thing I'm being invited to take on some proper paying jobs for the guild now, rather than just delivering their post.

Here we go, off to defend innocent people against a 'shadow' they say is menacing them from some ancient ruins...
I suspect more 'hostile shadowy figure' than an actual floating darkness, whatever they say.

Another benefit of all this practise every day, I'm being trusted more and more with cleaning up others' mess, proving myself at least an equal to people in the same positions as me.

Been set what should have been a simple exercise in target practice, but with so many particularly nasty, vicious beasts around the area the girl at the guild setting the task might as well have been trying to get me hurt

Though, they've now lent me this massive longbow to use, they said it was the smallest one they had, but it's still far too big to be practical for anyone except giants. Which is most people around here.

Seems 'new adventurer' means servant these giants can send to collect parcels and deliver letters all day, because they're too lazy to do it themselves.
I mean, they pay well, but I didn't come here to take a job as a postal worker, did I?

Still dazed and confused and missing a proper bed, I pull the sword free, the damn thing must weigh half as much as me, and drag is slowly back to the camp, it might be a useful clue. Nearly got killed by some little lizards while weighed down with the thing too.

No sign of anything here all night, I must've dozed off though, got woken early this morning by a couple of strange colourful characters arguing, mostly about that sword. Ended up trying to blame me, as though I could just casually throw around a weapon almost as big as myself.
