As always, the only real lesson you can learn from "how were they so successful" for any game that was super successful is "good for them". You can find some learnings of stuff to try carefully in the stories of small successes, perhaps. Lots to learn from failures, though.

The lesson to be learned from the development of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is very similar to the thing you can learn from Baldur's Gate 3, which is that if you were exactly that group of people at exactly that moment in time doing exactly that specific thing, it'll work out for you.
