Different kinds of waves make different sounds when it comes to/kisses/crashes into the coast. In this chapter I'm working on, I'm trying to spell some of those sounds. (e.g Kshhh kshhh, mlp mlp, mshhhh mshhhh)

Will you help me brainstorm more? How would you spell your favorite wave sounds? 🌊💙

This stopped me in my tracks. And when I started again, it was to run to @yourfriendnamee.bsky.social’s website to find offerings and teachings and ways to support.

Honored that my piece Moon Boots found the best home in @thesunmagazine.bsky.social

It's about the mayhem and magic of being a single mother. I hope you'll read it

Our baby could not yet hold his head up. I lay on my parents’ living room floor next to my son, wondering how I was going to afford and overcome everything by myself, thinking I was too clumsy to take...

Oct. 1 is a historic day. It marks the official end of federal funding for public radio and television.

But public media endures: independent, resilient and powered by you. Here at KTOO, we’ll keep telling the stories that matter to Juneau and Alaska.

We may be defunded, but we remain determined.

Ultimately, 32 Chunk’s grit and determination tipped the scale. Fat Bear Superfan Na Mee celebrates the impressive, massive, emphatically fat champion and all his resilience.

It’s the Fat Bear Week Finals and two of the biggest boars of Brooks River are here to conceptually duke it out.

Around 150K voters have been weighing in daily, and as superfan @yourfriendnamee.bsky.social writes, this one’s a real claw-biter.

#FatBearWeek So how did two semi-villains make it to the finals?

Complexity! Depth! Conflict!

We need some Zen right now.
Fat Bear Week has arrived, featuring some of the biggest and brawniest bears of Brooks River. But longtime fans will note that there are several beloved bears missing from this year’s bracket.

#FatBearWeek Hold on to your hats, adoring fans of flabulous, because defending Fat Bear Queen 128 Grazer competes today.

Here's more about 128 Grazer / today's match:

#FatBearWeek 32 Chunk is a familiar face on the fat bear circuit, but he has yet to do a victory lap. Character sketch aside, this boar is borderline bursting. Chunk the Hunk, we call him. Even standing, his belly almost kisses the ground.

Let me tell you a lil more about him

#FatBearWeek Biggie, 128 Grazer’s girl, is on a roll! She may be a toddler but she is waddling into this match having now defeated 609, 26’s girl cub, and both of 803s yearlings.

#FatBearWeek Look, 901 is an actual boat. She’s so wide, I don’t know how she turns a corner. She is the Michelin man in a bear suit. She is a runaway parade blimp. What we love about 901 is that she has always had her priorities straight - eat, mate, and sleep - and she’s a very focused gorl.

One of my favorite poems since childhood, and a poem I share every #autumnequinox.
By the 12thc warrior poet Xin Qiji 辛棄疾, sidelined during peacetime, demoted, drifting through a decade of minor posts in remote lands.
Poetry, then, is that which is left unsaid.
