So the edited speech from Trump sounds really bad for the BBC at first glance until you realise that the bits edited together were from the same speech and that Trump actually said both parts, just not together. At worst, BBC is guilty of misrepresenting the exact timings of his speech.

Sickening that 96 elected MPs voted yesterday to withdraw from the European Convention on Human Rights. Every single one of them should either resign or be voted out, because people shouldn't forget someone voting to essentially make them non-human.

There's a lot of people referring to the government's announced and proposed tax changes as either communism or socialism, which leads me to conclude that there are a lot of people in the country who don't know what communism or socialism are.

Is this what politics has come to? Seeming Labour supporters criticising Ed Davey not for his policies or his antics but because his name can be said as "Little Davey"? If that's the best you've got, you've got nothing substantial, and shouldn't ever vote on any issues that are actually substantial

Wow, 31 Reform councillors have either resigned or been kicked out since May. Surely this is some sort of record?

If Starmer lets Reform get a majority government with a minority of votes when he had more than enough power to do something about it by introducing fairer elections, history will not remember him kindly.

Still a chance, #Labour, you can still introduce #ProportionalRepresentation

So, ID cards. I can understand why some people would be opposed to them on the grounds of data security, but the biggest uproar I've seen seems to suggest that people are worried the government is going to spy on them. What are they doing that's so interesting, and how can I get involved?

Right wingers, can you please clarify what freedom of speech actually means? Because if it doesn't apply to lies and the government can step in over mistruths,I have some really bad news for you regarding some of the claims made by your heroes.

Time for comedians all around the world to really double down on calling out trump for his attacks on free speech and free press. This latest is a further descent into the realm of absolute tyranny, and it absolutely breaks what the US was supposed to stand for.

I have a bald patch. Not a natural one, the doctor just shaved a bit of my head so they could more easily get to my scalp.

The joys of neurosurgery!

Signed - can't imagine it will actually change the minds of the Labour leadership, but at least it'll be another bit of evidence that they are ignoring the wishes of their party membership and the country as a whole for their own foolish reasons.
This petition for Proportional Representation has reached over 10,000 now….

Let’s get it higher! 💪

The entire right-wing is going to absolutely lost their minds over the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
But just remember how NONE of them gave a DAMN about Melissa Hortman, a Democratic lawmaker in Minnesota, being assassinated just a couple of months ago. Trump basically IGNORED it!

I've seen a few questions about #WealthTax on here, so I've tried to put together my thoughts in an article. Have tried not to be political, but just to talk about the features and consequences of the tax.

I wrote this post on LinkedIn regarding something the Chancellor said in passing during her Mansion House speech earlier today. It might sound like a minor issue, but 6.7% average return and 9% average return are very different, and finance professionals wouldn't be allowed to get away with it

If the original Magna Carta was kept in another country because at some point we got invaded and the original was sold to a collector as a curiosity, I imagine we would be quite keen to get them back. The Parthenon Marbles are more than twice as old.

That's why they matter to Greece.

Apparently staying that I think there is wealth inequality and that steps ought to be taken to try to improve that inequality make me a communist, a Marxist and a dickhead.

Sadly that's all from LinkedIn, not Twitter.

Just seen someone on LinkedIn lamenting the fact that higher earners have to pay more tax and basically saying that anyone earning less than about £70k should just be grateful to all the wealthy people supporting them. Also implied that criticising them should be allowed.

"PIP should be means tested"

Heard this today. Utter nonsense. The whole point of PIP is to provide support to those with disabilities that impact their day to day lives. It helps to cover therapy, carers, rehab, mobility aids, etc.

You got 34% of the vote, Starmer. Given how bad the last Tory government was and the interference offered by Reform, that doesn't make you some sort of political genius. If anything you should have done much better given the circumstances, but you only got 34% of the vote.

New analysis of the 2025 local election results:

This year we saw the lowest ever average winner’s share of the vote at 40.7%, including 75 candidates who were elected with less than 30% of the vote.

The system isn't working. It's time for Proportional Representation.

Today I took my son swimming, and realised with horror when I was about chest deep that my phone was still in my pocket. Needless to say, the phone was soaked and is now having a few intermittent stability issues (much like me in some ways)

Still mostly working though, which is surprising.

Sadly McDonnell has been left behind by Labour's shift to the right. I suspect that this veteran Labour MP will witness the complete collapse of his party because of its leadership's unwillingness to actually be as progressive as they have been saying they are
