Any #AuDHD writers out there who love the self-imposed Kingdom of Isolation that comes with working on your book but also suddenly become desperate to socialise and meet people? But then all you want to talk to them about is your book?

I'm at the point in my book writing where I'm trying to finish up chapters instead of jumping around. I think I'm doing well then I read sentences like the one below and wonder why I'm so obnoxious:

I just love that my writing software tracks somewhat irrelevant stats like this. You can clearly see where my energy dropped off a cliff and picked back up. #scrivener

If you didn't know I have a podcast, it's probably because I've been shit at promoting it. But you can find it on YouTube, Spotify and Amazon/Audible and there are two new eipsodes on their way soon! Spotify: open.spotify.com/show/0E4fE74...

Just passed the 40k word mark. Book is really starting to book now! #Muchwritersuchwow

My publisher gave me the feedback that I was perhaps a little too deep into the science of my book and needed to add some softer touches, and more of my own personality, so I'm adding little sentences like describing fMRI machines as "expensive and exciting scanny devices"

I cannot make any kind of a flattering face for a screengrab but happy to say there are two upcoming episodes to the Awkward Conversations podcast coming soon, one with Sarah Hendrickx (about autism & menopause) and one with my friend Dianna Moylan (about grief and terminal illness as a ND person).

So depressing to be reading through papers on what we know about brain differences in autistic people and come across sentences like "Finding the markers and therapeutic targets for ASD treatment will significantly impact the global economy." Sorry, are WE supposed to be the problem here?!?

My grandmother, second from left, having been forced out of their home in Berlin, then settled in the UK. However, after her school was evacuated, she was classified as an "enemy alien", and was interned for 6 weeks on the Isle of Man while her father desperately tried to get her returned to them.

Finally transitioning from 2D to 3D crochet, I'm having lots of fun this January going full Goblincore. The jellyfish in the background was my first go without a specific pattern, and this unicorn was from my Mythical Creatures crochet book. Now someone stop me from getting into needle felting.

Really struggling to embrace the "just say what's on your mind" mentality necessary to actually contribute to apps like this. Probably being slightly traumatised by being repeatedly misunderstood (as is the life of an autistic person) has led me to be obsessive about what I write and share. Hmm.

Meet Storm, either an emotional support cat, highly attuned to the needs of her person, who can tell she's been writing too long and needs a break, or... her bowl is empty.

Word count update: 27500 - almost at the halfway point!

Are you stuck or feeling lost?
Any places missing you'd like added?

It turns out I've not been receiving emails to my yosamdysam email since late October. Whoops. Problem is now fixed, unfortunately everything during that time is lost. Still, life kept going and maybe good that I didn't get distracted during that time by shiny new opportunities.

That feeling when you're admiring how much work you've put into getting your inbox organised and cleared for the new year, before someone DMs you to tell you their emails aren't getting through and you wonder how many emails are sitting in limbo 🙂

My son is finally at the age (7, precocious reader) where we can enjoy lovely chapter books together, and the first one we went for was "A Kind of Spark" by @ellemcnicoll.bsky.social

A few hours after we finished it:
"Mum, wait, are WE autistic?!?"
😂😂😂 yes honey
