Scrapes & ponds in the landscape have big environmental benefits 🌿🌳💦
They hold water during heavy rain, reducing #flood risk downstream & slow and store surface runoff, allowing water to infiltrate the soil.
They also boost #biodiversity, creating habitats for #amphibians, #insects & #birds

We have delivered our largest #Ousewem project so far: Re-wriggling the artificially straightened Brompton Beck on the Hauxwell estate to create a 9 hectare wetland habitat.
Before & after pics show the improved land & river which is now moving freely & more slowly for first time in over a century!

Excited to be leading the on the ground work in this project to remediate the historic #metalmine #pollution from Barney Beck in #Swaledale with #NidderdaleNationalLandscape - great to have made a start and looking forward to posting updates.

We have been out with #WildTroutTrust carrying out #fish surveys in the #Swale catchment.
Electro-fishing is a great tool for monitoring local fish populations & #river health.
Trout, minnow, bullhead, grayling, stickleback and brook lamprey found! 🐟🐟🐟
