I remember we watched "Superfly" on vhs in a smokey dormitory in college and were impressed that the soundtrack was so clearly the lead in the movie. When the credits ran out, the music kept going.

This is a tremendous record. Released 3 months after John Coltrane's death, it features Coltrane's "Naima" as the opening track. It was recorded live at the Village Gate, New York City, on June 28, 1967.
