Some thing I would add to the Greens' new plan (including their other policies)? #nzpol
-Free/Further Discounted Public Transport
-A plan to further reduce free carbon credits
-Reconsider moving from the ETS to a border-adjusted carbon tax
-Consider a carbon dividend
-Expand Warming-Up-Homes

How can the policies in the Greens' new plan improve? #nzpol
-Return agricultural ETS revenue to regions/provide double credits to methane reducing activities
-Be more open to or at least about GE R&D
-Consider a different tax mechanism for the Clean Car Discount
-Reconsider the Jobs Guarantee

-Green infrastructure plan:✅
-Agriculture in the ETS:✅, though an idea I might push is to use the revenue to provide additional credits for agricultural emissions reduction
-Clean Car Discount:✅, but the revenue mechanism could be more elegant
-Green Jobs Guarantee:❔, highly highly skeptical

Daily Tax Policy Review: ACT #nzpol
(disclaimer: tax policies are reviewed independent of other policies that the party would implement alongside them)
Economy
ACT is committed to cutting waste from government and returning that money to New Zealanders through lower taxes and targeted, sensible spending on core public services.

There's so much mixed messaging on both sides surrounding the semantics of 'socialism,' especially for Americans. (1/3)

#nzpol Any of you ever heard of the parabole of the blind men and the elephant? I'm considering making a political cartoon about that, but with politicians (or party voters?) as the blindmen and the issue of housing as the elephant.

Labour really ought to run on benefit reform. The red line represents the returns for increased hours of work for a single mother, taking into account almost all relevant benefits, assuming average income. #nzpol

If we just effectively deducted benefits at the point of paycheck dispersal (through a tax) rather than at the point of benefit dispersal (through a 'phase-out), I'm willing to bet at least half of this problem goes away.

Almost a quarter of beneficiaries being paid incorrectly - report
It falls well short of the Ministry of Social Development's target of at least 95% correct payouts.

I feel like we're so stuck in on criticizing the coalition that we never really demand more from Labour. Even as a broadly non-radical guy, I want to see more from Hipkins beyond literally only recycling old policies a year on from the new government forming. #nzpol

Would probably be timely to post this drawing I did of Yoon about two years ago. It's not very good, especially given he's my dad's ex-neighbour (tru facts!)
