Honestly there's no more terrifying sentence in the English language than 'Mum, I've decided to teach you the basics of Minecraft'

One of my notes to self for this edit is Remember There Are Goats. Keep thinking it would make a great band name (a la Imagine Dragons)

Late to the party, but I'm breaking my mid-edit social media exile to declare @mserinkelly.bsky.social's House of Mirrors a straight up BANGER. If you've read The Poison Tree - and even if you haven't! Though you should - it's an absolute treat. Biba! Karen! Rex! Classic EK twists! 10/10 no notes 🏠🪞

Today I learnt that the only thing worse than half an hour on hold listening to Your Song is half an hour on hold listening to the first 30 seconds of Your Song sixty times

This has been shared many times, but is worth sharing again.
It is reflective, clear-sighted, focused on the ordinary and the matter of fact, on what it is possible to perhaps encompass. And is immensely moving as a result.
I'm reposting this piece I wrote for The Observer about my father and dementia...and spoons. The conversations I've had since publication with other carers has been very moving. Perhaps if you're a carer you will find some solace in these words:

My father, a handful of spoons and his journey into dementia
Looking through old cutlery was a safe haven for my dad after he became lost in ‘dementia land’
