Doing a banned books project with part of our 6th grade. Very angry children asking me WHY certain things are banned places.

"Every reason for banning a book is bad! All of them! It's all ridiculous!" - me, all day yesterday and today.

Had a sub literally say "stop talking" at me this morning to which i responded "ok but I can't help you then."

It's not even 10 minutes into first period yet and I'm DONE.

Friend of mine is in a rough spot taking care of her mom.
Hey y'all. I hate to have to do this, but things have really hit rock bottom lately. I was I wouldn't need a GoFundMe but unfortunately, life had other plans. I need to pay for my mom's care. If you can help, that would be great. If you can only share, that's appreciated too. 💖

Our 8th graders are currently studying WWI.

They've started asking their teachers if we're going to have WWIII. And if it will be soon.

Got a substitute in for the librarian today. She is of very questionable usefulness. Sigh.

Went 1-1-1 at the Lorwyn Eclipsed prerelease today.

I really like the vibe at prereleases. 2 headed giant tomorrow, too.

And now I have many more packs to open, yay!

Wore a new @peculiarityshop.bsky.social necklace yesterday to work with a plain black t-shirt and a cardigan and everyone kept asking why I was so dressed up.

Jeans and hiking boots completed the outfit, lol.

Gonna help some 6th grade teachers with a project on banned books and I am HYPED for this.

(yes, sometimes I wish I were a librarian myself but I don't want to be in debt forever, you know?)

Today in #LibraryLife there was a spirited discussion about what does or does not count as pizza...followed by a mildly concerning amount of time discussing what would meet the definition of cannibalism.

8th graders are weird, y'all
Sometimes you find yourself saying brand new sentences. For example: "they're talking about a cartoon and you're talking about cannibalism!"

Just another day in #LibraryLife

Just a girl standing in front of her LGS (or rather their website) waiting for them to put up Lorwyn Eclipsed preorders.

May 2026 be kinder to all of us than 2025 was.

Signed up to participate in a Lyme vaccine study and didn't respond fast enough to an email (at the end of December, come on) and now the study is full. Rude.

I wanted to contribute to science and get paid, damn it.

It's a Festivus miracle. A snow day on the last school day before break!

Of course, this means no Airing of Grievances, but I'll allow it.

I bought stuff from @peculiarityshop.bsky.social as gifts and I'm pretty sure I'm getting something(s) as gifts and also maybe I ordered myself another pretty this morning because, well, I wanted to. And winter is hard, sometimes.

Opening 1 #MagicTheGathering booster pack every day or so is a very good dopamine burst.

I really need to turn some of my cards into money for more packs so I can continue this.

The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.

First-of-a-kind study shows encouraging data for trans kids who socially transition
Ninety-four percent of participants in a new study stood firm in their trans identity after five years, and "detransitioning" is rare.

So I've recently gotten back into #MagicTheGathering and I've really enjoyed the story we just got from @seananmcguire.bsky.social for the upcoming Lorwyn Eclipsed set. I love that I get to go into the next set with some context and I'm extra excited for the prerelease events next month now.
