+ My major project for this 2026 first quarter has been canceled, therefore I am now open for work - preferably under a part-time workframe, preferably gamedev.

+ New itch tiles are finally coming, too, but I'm looking for a structured gamedev project.
Pixel Art picture featuring the pokemon Blacephalon, standing on a fence atop an old-looking japanese-like coastal town at night. The crescent moon shines bright, its relection shimmering in the bay. A fantastic Luna Park is seen in the distance, right above the water, with its many towers, a ferry wheel also reflected in the calm, dark waters. The starry sky is illuminated by fireworks. A character sheet with many different monsters in pixel art. There's a dogu-like magical construct, with its detachable head firing lasers, a giant Squid-like Kraken, a fire skeletal demon. The next row shows a plant-like Alraune entity with a huge rose bud on its head, a Lich with its magic staff wearing an old robe, a skeletal dragon, a chained ghost with two vertical bright eyes and a vampire with a bat's head. The third row has a lagoon monster, a Slime queen with its lower part being a gown, a griffin, a giant spider and a floating possessed doll monster with shiny eyes and crazy snake-like hair. The last row has an antlion with huge pincers, a man-eating giant flower, a mud-like construct with shiny stones, a classical wyvern-like dragon and a decaying zombie giant. A top down, aerial view of a city and its outskirts by a swampy river. The streets are filled with people, and the architecture has a distinctive early twentieth century aesthetic, with rich bent iron structures. A top-down view of a cathedral-like structure, with many columns. At the very center, a giant baldachin, firmly standing on twisted columns. The altarpiece is mounted in a rich baroque frame, surmounted by stained glass rose window. A tall, bat-headed vampire is guarding the altar, with bats flying around. A richly adorned pipe organ can be seen to the eastern gallery. Along the transept in front of the absis, two enclosed naves host a Pietà statue and a reliquiary. Many huge chandeliers hang above the central nave, and lots of candles are scattered around the cathedral. A few zombies and skeletons are marching towards the entrance, where a group of adventurers is preparing for battle, being surrounded. To the side of the absis altar, downward staircases lead to the crypt. A huge skeletal dragon guards a closed gate. Many huge chandeliers hang above the central nave, and lots of candles are scattered around the cathedral. Below the Cahedral, an underground Ossuary crypt, with walls made out of bones and skulls. An eerie light permeates the various locales, featuring grates, numerous walls of wax, monumental coffins and pillars. A Lich warlock is channeling dark magic by a sarcophagus. The Tower above houses a giant bell. A faraway city can be seen from the terrace, as a Griffin guards the bell beam. A secret room with four chandeliers features many tombs. There, a lady-like demon with bat wings floats above a marble coffin.

I am Alessandro, an italian artist with 15+ years experience in pixels, a penchant for tilesets, top-down view, monsters and adventures!

I left my main occupation in movie art dept (set design) in late 2023 to pursue full-time #pixelart.
Ch-ch-ch-changes!
A topdown pixel art remake of Ruin Valley, from Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen. Many ancient structures can be seen emerging from the steep cliffsides and lush tropical vegetation: temples, tall palaces and mysterious pathways and towers. A moltitude of pokemon and trainers can be seen around. To the east, the ocean with tall waves and a jagged coastline. Water and fossil pokemon live there. At the center of the valley, the legendary pokemon trainer Red is entering the Dotted Hole ruins. Peculiar rock formation resembling regi pokemon are scattered throughout the environment. A collection of tiny pixel art pokemon scenes, featuring: 1. Chinchou swimming under the waves 2. Lanturn jumping above the waves at night 3. Corsola on the seafloor 4. Horsea in a cave underwater 5. Seadra in a kelp forest 6. Kingdra among whirlpools 7. Swinub at home, sleeping on a carpet 8. Piloswin taking a bath in hot springs 9. Mamoswine traversing a snowstorm 10. Cleffa hovering in space 11. Three Clefairy dancing at Mt. Moon Crater 12. Clefable in the middle of a pond, looking at the stars 13. Porygon in a strange labyrinth 14. Porygon2 running on a mobius strip 15. Porygon-Z floating in an old screensaver 16. Bonsly sitting on the porch as the rain starts to fall 17. Sudowood taking shelter from heavy rain in a mountain cave 18. Mew looking at the viewer through fish-eye lens 19. Sunkern floating in a summer meadow 20. Sunflora basking in the sunlight over a sunflower field 21. Celebi flying through Ilex Forest An animated top down pixel art diorama of a Haunted Mansion main hall. The gothic architecture is the perfect playground for the many ghost pokemon inhabiting the abandoned house. Right in the middle of the foyer, a megaevolved Chandelure welcomes unfortunate visitors with its blue flames flickering gently as the moonlight seeps through a hole in the roof, lighting the ruined pavement in a cold light. A solitary mimikyu joins the foyer, dragging its disguise across the western wing passage. A duskull levitates below the balcony, disappearing through rich, old and dusty drapes. The East Wing corridor is blocked by Gourgeis and Pumpkaboo, with their dim, warm lanterns mimicking the many candles and chandeliers scattered around the mansion. Could they be the very ones lighting them up? The monumental staircase leads to the first floor, were the balcony oversees the whole entrance room, forming a U-shape. To the left, leading to the western wing first floor, a Lampent shines atop an archway. To the East, a Dusclops waits in the shadows. At the very center of the balcony, Gengar is doing all kinds of silly faces, laughing at the viewer, right before disappearing. A litwick has found its nest in a small alcove by the two-story wooden doorway arch. Onboth sides of the doorway, many paintings with rich frames are hung. To the left, a Mismagius is showcasing its psychic powers to Misdreavus by taking control of a huge painting of Agatha, the famous elite 4. The shaking painting's eyes shine briefly in an ominous light. On the second story of the archway a Dusknoir briefly appears. An Ariados can be seen coming down its web through the gothic archs. Under the dark roof atop the whole scene, Haunter and Gastly are playing hide and seek. A huge hole in the roof lets the moonlight rays enter the Hall. Through the very same opening, zubats and a drifloon can be seen flying. A top down pixel art of the Going Merry Ship from One Piece, sailing calmly through the waves. The Strawhat jolly roger waves gently at the very top of the mainmast. A Palestine flag waves atop the rear mast, where a red, white and green sail is also found right below. Many green, red, white and black triangular flags are tied to the ropes all around. The crew can be spotted all around: Sanji is looking at a watermelon crate, possibly thinking of new recipes. Tony Tony Chopper is strolling happily down the staircase in the deck. Zoro is taking a nap at the bottom of the main mast. Nico Robin is relaxed, leaning on the main central deck railing and watching the waves, with a book by her side. Nami is looking towards the horizon from the bow deck where Usopp can be found as well, busy with ship's reparations. Luffy is sitting atop the sheep figurehead, with his arms stretched, hugging the giant watermelon he is enthusiastically eating.

At one point I added ship fast travel using the giant macaw, but I scrapped it. It was kinda unnecessary. The overworld was easily navigable without it

Keep thinking about this term "pre-digested" that Kojima used to describe art that's instantly gratifying. And how it's better when people grow to love something instead.

I've gravitated, as player and designer, toward the latter, but that term "pre-digested" is new and feels very strong.
And he said, "If everyone likes it, it means it's mainstream. It means it's conventional. It means it's already pre-digested for people to like it. And I don't want that. I want people to end up liking things they didn't like when they first encountered it, because that's where you really end up loving something."

The major breakthrough with this update is that I was able to web build for Godot C#! This is something that hasn't been possible in Godot 4.0 (and still isn't in the official release), but its thanks to the work of Raul Santos and some of the other folks on the Godot github that made this possible!
