Everyone needs comfort media - some kind of music, game, or show that they watch after a hard day.

For me it’s Vine compilations and Yosuto’s “I play X song but it’s actually Y”

Well, after dipping my toes in Bluesky for a bit, I think I like it. I’m gonna start using @reticentpundit.bsky.social as my main account. Follow me there if you wanna hear more from me! I’ll probably keep my satirical quips, memes, and shitposts here, if that’s what you like 😜

I just saw an obituary headline for a bacteriologist described as “a giant in his field” and I’m like of course have you seen how small bacteria are?

The comment was on this video which is really good. It touches on this concept with the differentiation of “explicit” vs “passive” atheism.

“Is atheism a religion” is an interesting question because it frames what may be a non-religious worldview in the context of religion. Kind of like how “is not collecting things a hobby” could potentially be framing minimalism (or just simply not collecting stuff) in the context of collections.

I feel like this can apply to the “is atheism a religion” conundrum too. Do atheists follow a religion wherein the believe there is no god? Or do atheists not even entertain this unless forced to, because their fundamental worldview doesn’t even include the question of deities?

Minimalism is not “the act of not collecting stamps (or other things)”, i think of it more as a different fundamental frame of mind. But stamp collectors will often see things through a lens that contextualizes everything relative to the collecting of stamps (or not.)

“Calling atheism a religion is like calling the act of not collecting stamps a hobby” - random YouTube comment

This is interesting, because if I said “the stamps example is a gross misrepresentation of Minimalism” then ironically that ALSO kind of perfectly fits this person’s point

A life is infinitesimally short. Life is incomprehensibly enduring.
Sometimes I think, "Compared to geological time, living things exist for only little blinks," but other times I think, "actually, life is one continuous chemical chain that first formed billions of years ago and every mountain range that existed back then has long since crumbled away to dust."

I was fingerpicking “Chasing the Dragon” by Epica, and when I hit a Dadd4*, I immediately had that chord play in my head from Shinedown’s “45” and Rise Against’s “Swing Life Away.”

*I totally googled the chord. I do NOT know the names of anything but the basic chords lmao

This makes me wonder… is a timelapse capturing the progression of a 3D print technically a representation of 4D printing???

We all know what 3D printing is, and 2D printing is obviously paper, which means print("Hello world") is 1D printing.

This it totally true and important to remember!

I was mostly talking about the “lacks critical thinking, thrives on fear mongering, easily duped into controversies without much evidence” aspect of it. THAT ratio is a lot closer between the two sides. Not equal! But much closer than 900/1.

Dark Souls 2 did try this, but in a totally sucky way. Adaptability as a stat was awful.

You just insulted half my family! I’ve been meaning to do that, but I keep biting my tongue 😜

I will say though, we got a lot of nutters here on the left too. This description fits both ends of the seesaw.

I appreciate that, little red squirrel, but… that’s not holly. And I need a lot more than that, like I’m talking a couple boughs.

That’ll go nicely in the wreath, though. Just don’t eat the berries! They’re made of plastic.
