Lawsuits from men against the doctors who provide abortions to their partners illustrate that men understand abortion bans as legal codifications of their private right to dominate and control women.

this passage stood out to me from The Nickel Boys. sincere language to describe the visceral horror of imprisonment. I was astounded to find out in the acknowledgments that this is a real quote, rephrased, from an inmate named Danny Johnson, who spent 27 years in solitary confinement. #booksky

just finished The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead! beautifully written and tough subject matter. the historical accuracy is impressive and devastating to read. this book contains a perspective I think many people would benefit from hearing.
