George's WWI diary 22.11.1914. Witnessed 1st time an enemy aircraft was shot down by British aircraft. Use of a machine gun enabled the Avro to force the Albatros to force to land. The British then landed and captured the two uninjured German aviators. @ww1intheair.bsky.social #ww1 #airpowerhistory

For much of its history, air power has typically been associated with air forces, not other services' air arms. This has been because air power has been closely linked to ongoing debates over the ownership of assets, capabilities, and operations. 1/

The closest we come to a transnational history of #WW1 air power is John Morrow’s ‘The Great War in the Air.’ However, it is more of a comparative history that needs more consideration of archival sources. #airpowehistory
