Southern Alberta transplant. Never say no to tea and a walk. Long-listed CBC NonFiction Prize and TNQ Peter Hinchcliffe Short Fiction Prize. Recent ✍️ @The Guardian, words coming soon @The Fiddlehead
Just finished #cbcpodcast Allison After NXVIM. Enthralling story but there was a telling phrase which demonstrated to me how deeply we internalize the abuse of women and children. The podcast refers to “underage women.” There’s no such thing: these are children. No one says “underage men.”

Did you know that the only communist government in Canada’s history was elected in the Crowsnest Pass, Alberta? Me neither, and I live next door. This fiction from Carissa Halton is a page turner through a period of extremism. Would be an excellent gift for history buffs. @newestpress.bsky.social

How many small businesses in rural Canada can say they’ve been in continuous operation for 89 years? If you are near Pincher Creek this summer, come and check out Blackburn Jewellers. It’s amazing and the owner, Doris Blackburn, is a delight. #southernAlberta

I no longer believe art can save the world, but I believe still that it can save me. So in the face of chaos, misinformation, hatred & ignorance, I'm going to make more art, experience more, share more, pay for more & publish more. I started this in darkness & it'll continue to be my light. 🖤🤍
