Have spent part of today listening to a small but enthusiastic group of children singing 'Happy Ice Cream to Me' to the tune of 'Happy Birthday to You' and this will now be stuck in my head for the rest of the weekend, if not forever.

Strange sounds emanating from our lower strongroom...

We've been doing trial run throughs for audio recordings planned for next year (and taking full advantage of the cool archive temperatures)
A microphone stand set up in the far aisle of an archive strongroom. Acid-free archive boxes are on the shelves. A kickstool is in the aisle behind the stand.

1949. When it was decided that the best way to teach children road safety was by colouring in pictures of demonic toys.
Colouring in sheet for children headed 'Safety in Toyland'. It includes pictures of toys to colour in, along with safety / injury themed rhymes. Verse: The Rocking Horse Dobbin is my rocking horse. He isn't really dead; Sometimes he starts a-rocking long after I'm in bed! He took my Dolly for a lovely ride the other night, And showed her the safe crossings near each traffic light. I know it's true 'cos when we went along the street to-day, She knew we had to cross each road the beacon crossing way!
