In #UE5, do Nanite meshes need lods?

"No, Nanite meshes don't need LODs because Nanite handles detail levels automatically. It works by rendering only detail needed for pixels currently on screen, eliminating the need for manual LOD creation for static meshes."

Been working on large modular environment set for retro (1990s) high school interiors.

Over 70+ modular pieces so far. Taking some time but it’s slowly coming along.

Most of modular pieces have been modeled, all UVed. Collisions & Materials are next.

Maya's Texel Density controls in UV Editor is the best way to ensure all your UV shells & all your UVs remain at same texel density between each other.

Essential for modular environment assets or any assets for that matter that are going to be in scene together.

Probably one of fewer users of this but I NEVER auto-save.

I always turn it off & always manually save. This gives me direct control of what to save, when to save & how often to save.

Once you develop this habit, it’s way better than auto-save & having hundreds of file versions.

Default #UE5 glass roughness using single value will work for simple glass but you really need roughness texture

Roughness texture will offer more real-world shine/dull variation you often see in glass

▪️Image 1: default single value roughness
▪️Image 2-4: roughness textures

Glass Normal Map switch in #UE5 is simple to setup.

You need Normal Map as Parameter so Normal Map texture is exposed in Material Instance.

Then change out the Normal Map to anything you want.
