like i don't really feel one way or the other about akira yamaoka. i like his music i think it's good but it's not something i see as a particular selling point. but i understand Who he is and What This Represents and seeing my babies all grown up is filling me with so much of something right now

i just truly don't understand the persistent sense of shock some people seem to be experiencing. just endless repetition of canned phrases. "beyond parody." "they're saying the quiet part out loud!" like grow the fuck up. none of this is new. all that's changed is they don't have to be cute about it

was that better? was it preferable to have the veneer of Classical Statesmanship even if the end result was the same extractive butchery? is that what you want back? rather than capitalize on the moment in pursuit of some actual ideological goal, is it better to just go "covfefe lol. presinald"?
