Crafting historical novels where art and their compelling backstories intertwine.

Any authors needing a web page for their book, I recommend Carrd. They have a generous free plan (3 sites) and if you want to go on a paid tier then their #BlackFriday 40% discount is active now.
-Not a paid sponsorship, I just really love their platform for a book landing page

Had to cut a beautifully crafted description of a character using a payphone because in 1966 he wouldn't have dropped a dime for a long-distance call, but rather would have simply dialed "0."
At least I didn't write iPhone.

I just destroyed this chapter like a bad building being demolished by a wrecking ball. Half the words gone. Different point of view. I don't even know if it belongs in this book anymore, but it's good editing.

Fascinating story about New York City's oldest independent bookstore--100 years. Thinking it may make a good idea for a historical novel, but already have 20 ideas on my ongoing list 🤔

No definitive answer, but I do feel that foreign language music helped me write through some difficult spots.
Definitely agree: albums > curating playlists

I was told I will be cutting a lot when I edit my first draft. A third done, and I've ADDED 2,500 words 👀

I've been wrestling with "...presided over the..." and "...presided as the..." for the last hour in my editing!

Inserting foreshadowing during the edit rather than the first draft is proving more challenging than I expected...especially with the use of metaphors 🐎

Past or present? That is the question! 😵‍💫

I really underestimated how tough editing would be. The fact that it's still 80 F and ☀ in October isn't exactly helping me focus on finishing this manuscript.

I wish someone had told me that marketing services like Sender and Mailerlite require us to have a domain. Guess my author newsletter is roadblocked for now.
