"Sometimes a law is just on its face and unjust in its application...such an ordinance becomes unjust when it is used to maintain segregation and to deny citizens the First-Amendment privilege of peaceful assembly and protest."

-Buckeye by Patrick Ryan slashed to $2.99 on Amazon 😥-

Wounds my writer's heart to see a work of this caliber already in the bargain bins. Not even six months since its release-and after being named Amazon's #1 Book of the Year. A stark indictment of a system undervaluing authors' work.

Amazon is adding an AI feature called "Ask This Book" so you can chat with your Kindle while reading. Because if there's one thing we want while trying to get lost in a story, it's a distraction built right into the page. 🙄

Just a little book tree at the library where I researched and wrote large portions of my book to wish everyone a Merry Christmas!

I heard a bird sing
In the dark of December
A magical thing
And sweet to remember.

"We are nearer to Spring
Than we were in September,"
I heard a bird sing
In the dark of December.

Finished crafting my query for a 1966 historical novel, only to find she had switched from "open" to "referrals only" sometime in the last 24-hours.

I'm thrilled to announce the formal launch of the "Bird Flies" landing page [link in bio] - a historical novel about the journey of a painting.

Any authors needing a web page for their book, I recommend Carrd. They have a generous free plan (3 sites) and if you want to go on a paid tier then their #BlackFriday 40% discount is active now.
-Not a paid sponsorship, I just really love their platform for a book landing page

Had to cut a beautifully crafted description of a character using a payphone because in 1966 he wouldn't have dropped a dime for a long-distance call, but rather would have simply dialed "0."
At least I didn't write iPhone.

I just destroyed this chapter like a bad building being demolished by a wrecking ball. Half the words gone. Different point of view. I don't even know if it belongs in this book anymore, but it's good editing.

Fascinating story about New York City's oldest independent bookstore--100 years. Thinking it may make a good idea for a historical novel, but already have 20 ideas on my ongoing list 🤔
