A few photos from French Heritage Day this past Sunday! Merci to everyone who stopped by our tent to paint "en plein air" (painting outdoors). A lovely opportunity to relax and enjoy the Winooski riverfront landscape.

Lovely to be included in this special celebratory luncheon at the Winooski Senior Center with Nepali seniors and families. Backstrap weavings from our workshops were on display, along with woven mandalas inspired by our Mandala Community Weaving project from last year!

On March 25, 1911, one of the deadliest workplace disasters in U.S. history took the lives of 146 workers at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory. Next month, we are supporting VT Stage’s Triangle Teen Tour, a play bringing this history to life for local students. Check out these books to learn more.

In July 1909, the U.S. Army stationed its famed 10th Cavalry Div (an all-Black unit known as the Buffalo Soldiers) at Fort Ethan Allen in Colchester. Their arrival
(and their families) more than doubled Vermont’s Black population and helped change public perceptions around race relations in VT.

Nice to have a photo feature in VT Arts Council Annual Report FY24, highlighting the Project grant we received to support a series of knitting workshops with East African woman, held at AALV in Burlington. Super excited to see these amazing women tomorrow night at our first meeting of the new year.

It was a pleasure hosting students from BTV City & Lake Semester this past Monday. Students learned about the historically unsafe working conditions at textile mills and shared their personal experience with labor regulations. We also talked about current child labor issues around the globe.
