"I'm sorry for not having the courage to come out as Gay. I was afraid of being ostracized...Seeing how people like me were treated, I just could not do it. Now that my secret is known, I'll forever rest in peace."

The VFW estimates that a million+ LGBT veterans have served.

The bond forged in service transcends all differences. Every vet should feel valued, and have access to resources and community they deserve.

We thank all vets, as we highlight a few of our own this Veterans Day.

My husband and I have been together 39 years. First as domestic partners, then as a civil union and finally married in 2008 when legally allowed…each time jumping through hoops for recognition no straight couple is required to do.

Same sex marriage is not special rights…just equal rights. Period.

New Hegseth hurdle requires trans service members to appear before separation boards in uniforms matching gender assigned at birth — if not, it's used against them.

Transgender troops have served for years and likely don’t own uniforms in the gender assigned at birth.

It's easy for the rich to just move to a state that doesn't discriminate against same-sex marriage. For regular Texas folk though, marriage is now at the mercy of religious bigots.

Too much to ask that GOP gays help defend marriage equality?
