I redrew my lighthouse and selkie drawing.
The sketch (older drawing) didn’t have enough background to make it into a bookmark (it either chopped off the seal in the water, or the flag, so I redrew it 🦭). I really wanted a lighthouse bookmark 😂 #artist #procreate #lighthouseart #seals #selkies

There are three seals 🦭 (who are actually selkies) one in the water and two on the island rocks. Four bookmarks I made with my drawings. The first one is fanart of Gollum from The Lord of the Rings. The second one is my lighthouse and selkies drawing. The third one is my animal head doodles (a flower Lion, knight Zebra, blue blue Wildebeest with a bird nesting on her head, and a Giraffe). The fourth one is a compilation of sketches from my sketchbook (fish, pirates, fanart from Dungeon Meshi, Spirited Away, my original characters). The back of my bookmarks from the previous photo. The first three (Gollum, Lighthouse, Animal doodles) I just desaturated the colours (and let different animals wink or blink). My sketchbook bookmark is a compilation of different sketches from my sketchbook (my original characters, Gollum fanart, Dungeon Meshi fanart, drawings of thing I like, like unicorns (cool creatures in general), turtles, books, etc).

I drew this lighthouse in 2023, and it inspired an idea for a comic with selkies and sea serpents. Now I’m slowly working on my comic, still busy thumbnailing it, having so much fun whenever I get to work on it 😋

Life’s been pretty hectic for me at the moment, but I wanted to get back into drawing more regularly, even if it’s just a small daily doodle. It can count for #inktober too since I drew with my pen 😉 #doodles #sketches

I do these doodles to loosen my hand a bit, get my pressure right, as I usually have a very heavy hand and I’m trying to break that habit. Kurt Vonnegut’s definition of what makes something “art” is one of my favorites I’ve seen - from a letter to his brother in 1995.
People capable of loving some paintings or etchings or whatever can rarely do this without knowing something about the art-ist. Again, the situation is social rather than scientific. Any work of art is one halt of a conversation between two human beings, and it helps a lot to know who is talking at you. Does he or she have a reputation for seriousness, for sincerity? There are virtually no beloved or respected paintings made by persons of whom we know nothing. We can even surmise a lot about the lives of whoever did the paintings in the caves underneath Lascaux, France. So I dare to suggest that no picture can attract serious attention without a human being attached to it in the viewer's mind. If you are unwilling to attach your name to your pictures, and to say why you hope others might find them rewarding to look at, there goes the ballgame right there. Pictures are famous for their human-ness and not their picture-ness. There is also the matter of craftsmanship. Real picture lovers like to "play along," so to speak, to look closely at the surface to see how the illusion was created by nothing but an unusual human being, with hands and eyes. If you are unwilling to say how you made your pictures, there goes the ballgame a second time. Good luck, and love as always K

Meet Slimer 😋 I just realised I haven’t drawn my yellow boy in years! So this was a good reminder 💛
Sculpture of my original character made with polymer clay. He is a yellow fish with blue markings, called Slimer. He likes to bite things, that’s how he got his name. Here he is biting a rock. Drawing of my original characters, Mirror and Slimer. Mirror is a girl with brown hair and blue eyes. Slimer is a yellow and blue fish who likes playfully biting everything, and that’s how he got his name. Another drawing of Mirror and Slimer, my original characters. I drew this back in 2018, I really need to practice drawing hands 😂 I went through a phase of redesigning Mirror, I’m still not 100% settled on her design. In this drawing Mirror is a Baku warrior, with an elephant mask, ox tail, and tiger stripe tattoos. She’s using her powers here so her tattoos are glowing. Slimer is a floating yellow and blue fish. Group photo (drawing) of my original characters. Ollie is a snuggly personification of fear, Mirror is the brown haired girl and she was an imaginary friend, Slimer is a floating yellow and blue fishy, and Albatross (Alba for short) is a flying tree who captains a ship on a flying angler fish. I drew this back in 2018.

This has been a chaotic year for me, with an operation, a big move across the country, then a big move back and a dying iPad 🥲 It has also been a good year, I started drawing again in a sketchbook and I’ve been working on my drawing habit, recovering from burnout 🙏✏️📚
