An absolute joy working on the weekend - putting up owl boxes.

This is where you can find us 7 days a week, from dawn to dusk - sowing seeds, planting trees and wildflowers, digging ponds, building reptile banks, giving Nature a helping hand.

Life in the midst of climate and biodiversity crisis...

Zohran's campaign was his determination to make New York a city everyone can afford to live in. Huge congratulations!

His success will resonate throughout the world. A story where no one is left behind.

It's time to write that story across England & Wales too.

For years, there's been a massive over-emphasis on food miles, and a massive under-emphasis on food type.
By far and away the best dietary decision you can make, for environmental, humanitarian and public health purposes, is to cut out animal products.

We've been granted a permissions hearing at the High Court for our legal challenge against Angela Raynor's assertion that the Planning & Infrastructure Bill 'will not reduce environmental protections', which we say was both untrue & unlawful.

The last clips of our final Willow Tit nest of 2025, and a real success story. First the pair were evicted, then this second nest was attacked by a Great Spotted Woodpecker. We protected the nest at 4 m, and all 5 fledglings are now exploring the wild world around them. A great ending to the season.

A nice break adding the decks and the last few wildflowers to the pond. Great to see it establishing quickly, when designed and created as Nature intended.

WOW! What a magnificent response to our crowdfunder to support our legal challenge against the Badger cull licences! Over £30k raised yesterday!

We're just under £4k short of our target - can you help us help the Badgers? 🦡🔽

Very rare sight of a pair of Willow Tits stopping together for a moment before feeding their young, instead of darting busily straight into the nest cavity every 2-3 minutes. GSW nest located c. 300 m away. Around one week to fledging time.
May 27, 2025 at 7:39 PM
An eerie silence - Willow Tit nest, with 7 chicks, unprotected and left to its fate due to the height above the ground (c. 4.6 m) and other site conditions, predated by GSW. No sign or sound of any surviving young on site. It would be very rare for the pair to have another go this year.

The busy sounds of a family group of Willow Tits. Adults contact calling, hungry fledglings, male giving bursts of song. We protected their nest from woodpecker attack - the cavity was attacked, as predicted, but luckily the mesh saved these birds lives. A real privilege to spend time with them.

Willow Tit Action - we step in and reinforce the nests where they are particularly vulnerable. This stump was partially opened by a woodpecker from the side, back and the top. Though extremely difficult to access, at 4 m above the ground, it's now well protected, with 6 precious eggs inside.
May 17, 2025 at 4:50 PM
Willow Tit Action - good news from a recently protected nest, the eggs have hatched and both parents are busy in and out of the cavity, completely oblivious to the added mesh layer. No sign of woodpecker damage. Fingers crossed.

Post-industrial sites in south Wales are a refuge for Willow Tits and Marsh Tits alike. One of our sites has active nests of both species. Interestingly, these Marsh Tits are using a rotten willow snag at ground level in young, wet woodland with standing water - much more typical of Willow Tit.
May 13, 2025 at 6:23 PM
Willow Tit Action - another nest found on a site which Nature has taken over from a former colliery, with no human intervention. Where Nature is allowed to take control, there is hope.

Last few photos to add to our talk this Friday for Cambrian Ornithological Society on three years of our life and conservation work in Poland.
Priceless lessons are to be learnt from these truly wild landscapes for conservation efforts in the UK.

Working for Willow Tits takes you to the most wonderful places. These landscapes would never be the same without them!
The clock is ticking, so every day we hurry to gather critical data feeding into our conservation project to help secure the future of these unique and charismatic birds in the UK.

Wildlife pond taking shape as it's being filled with water, with dragonfly perch installed, log piles going in, oxygenating plants fizzing away and Pond Skaters whizzing around. Can't wait to add the decks and finally celebrate with the most enjoyable part - planting!

Great Spotted Woodpeckers are a serious problem for Willow Tits in Wales. Both previous years' nest cavities have been opened up on this tree. We're now looking after this site and have protected the nest with a clutch of 10 eggs. Female safely incubating again.

Wonderful news! A Barn Owl has been visiting the nest box we installed last Autumn in North Yorkshire, and a pair of Kestrels have been prospecting the nearby nest box too! Let’s hope for a successful season for these beautiful birds of prey.
