Probably not 3 days pass at a time without me thinking about shit in this Graeber essay. Pairs real well with the line from Veins about how the teachers don't tell you about how you can get a GED so the popular kids have a steady supply of kids to torture.
Graeber knew you people very well.

hey @bsky.app why was @scumbelievable.bsky.social suspended? considering the timing (she just put a new book out) it feels like someone is weaponizing your safety features in a targeted manner

if you are old enough to remember, at all, what was going on during the run-up to iraq, and fall for it again now, you are either vile beyond repair or such an enormous mark that you should be locked in a mcdonald's playplace for your own personal safety

Defunding research on brain development and memory doesn't help anyone and certainly doesn't improve the welfare of students.
Last year, I was overjoyed to receive an NIH NRSA fellowship to study toddler brains and caregiving effects on memory at Columbia. Last night, my grant was terminated.

If you're in Delco or Very South Philadelphia (or Montogomery County), you can also share your thoughts with your Rep, here's a link:

And I signed up for a "tele-town hall" featuring my Rep (PA-05) and some others, and submitted a question about whether their opposition to the Trump administration will consist of anything more substantive than holding up a lollipop sign at them

So I made all these Reacher things last year, when I first thought of the joke, and I was posting them last week. There are about 21 to go, and so as an accountability thing I guess I'm going to let myself post one each time I Do Something in Real Life to address the Various Problems.

No one buys a newspaper who doesn't want to make it their toy.

Refer again to the Philadelphia Inquirer - maybe the best daily paper left. In 2012 it was purchased by Gerry Lenfest, who was Annenberg's lawyer. He then donated it to a foundation so it would be protected from people like Annenberg.
Jeff Bezos, in continuing his trend of turning WaPo into his personal plaything, has announced that its opinion section will now exclusively focus on promoting "personal liberties and free markets." 🙃

good morning here is a piece from me about this week's worker actions against DOGE and Trump, what the point of all these cuts are anyway, and how you can join the fight inthesetimes.com/article/fede...
The Movement Supporting Federal Employees Is Rising
Thousands of workers across the country hit the streets this week to declare their opposition to Trump and Musk who, under the guise of "efficiency," are slashing and burning public services.
