Looks like my #retirement date may be moving way up to the end of August of this year!!

Last fall, I spoke w/my boss about taking a long vacation in late August/early September '25. I told him it would be around 3 weeks long, w/a group, and I wouldn't know exact dates until the tour group filled.

I give my car at least 2 in-depth detailing sessions a year.

Visit a local car wash
Hand dry outside
Vacuum inside
Wipe down all inside surfaces
Treat faux-leather seats
Wax the outside

My car is 7+ years old but still looks & drives like brand new!

TGIF! What's 1 thing you did this week to help you save $?

I researched new mobile virtual network services- been w/Cricket for years. Ready to take the plunge to an even lower cost service. Savings will be ~$200 the first year!!

Healthcare after #earlyretirement is my biggest concern. What's yours?

Trying to get added to my partner's insurance as a domestic partner. We've been to the bank once, notary twice, and made a few dozen phone calls. Paperwork submitted a week ago. Fingers crossed!

Only 232 days left until my tentative retirement date!

Really enjoying using up my vacation and sick days these past few months, knowing I can't take them with me or get paid for any that remain.

Essay: To rekindle pride in American values, we should not only expand mandatory Holocaust education beyond the current 29 states, but spotlight America’s role in post-liberation rebuilding of Europe, writes Karen Kirsten.

Stressed with the stock market slide these past several weeks? Thinking about delaying your retirement?

Ride it out, this will pass in time. I only check my portfolio once a week (in good times OR bad). Now is also a great time to invest MORE, if you can.

Remember to update your beneficiaries on all of your accounts!

It's the easiest way to avoid probate and save your family time & money should you pass away. You want them to have access to your $ without having to wait on courts, lawyers, or the dreaded medallion signature.

I was lucky to visit many times while living in Boston in my early 20s. So happy they will remain open. Support your local non-profits any way you can.

Many people buy SUVs or pickup trucks for the safety of them and their passengers.

But big vehicles put drivers in smaller cars, pedestrians and cyclists at risk.
Why large cars are a public health hazard, according to one expert
Four in five cars sold in the United States last year were either SUVs or pickup trucks. That's a far cry from even the 1990s when that number was closer to 25% of all sales.

Baby, are you down, down, down, down, down? 🎵

Markets are still down which means I've almost maxed out my Roth IRA for 2025. A few unexpected home expenses came up, otherwise it would be maxed already.

Now is always a great time to invest for later!

2024 total spending was ~$30k. $29,611 actually. Nearly 32% of that was for various housing expenses. 23% travel, 18% food & dining, 11% utilities, & 7% auto. The other 9% went to donations, hobbies, clothing, entertainment, & healthcare.

Happy Veganuary! Not only is going plant-based good for your health but it's also good for your wallet! Pulses are more economical than animal-based protein. Don't forget about tofu, tempeh, grains, fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds- need I say more?

Taking advantage of stocks still falling this 1st business day of '25 by depositing a nice chunk of $ into my Roth.

Did you know you can withdraw your Roth contributions at any time before age 59.5 with no penalties or taxes?

#frugalfriday tip- Learn good knife & cooking skills to save $! No need to buy expensive pre-cut fruit/veg. No need for the kale stripper or strawberry corer you never remember to use anyway.

Put that extra $ into your retirement fund and get compounding!

2024 AGI will be my lowest since college!

Maxing out all my tax-advantaged accounts for the 1st time ever. I've come close but never got every last dollar/cent in. We have a new payroll person who is much easier to work with. Makes a world of difference!
