A collision has caused backup on Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge on Highway 17 from Charleston to Mount Pleasant Oct. 1 and the left lane was closed at 4:50 p.m.

Radar-estimated rainfall totals are very impressive with some moderate rain continuing to fall in parts of Mt. Pleasant, Downtown, and the Sea Islands. Flash Flood Warnings continue through this evening as water levels in Charleston Harbor head well into flood stage. Avoid travel if possible!

This line of storms roughly along 17 means business, with very heavy rain, frequent lightning, and gusts to 50 MPH possible. Watch for possible flooding, especially downtown, due to very heavy rain. Flood Advisory in effect until 4:45 PM.
